The Semantic Web and Drupal: An Introduction

Semantic Web technology has been around for years in academia, but businesses are now starting to embrace this compelling technology. The Semantic Web is a structuring of information that is understandable by software, such that that software can perform tedious tasks like searching and combining information.

The Semantic Web was a very hot topic at this spring's DrupalCon because Drupal is one of the technologies that is best-positioned to realize the promise of the Semantic Web. This presentation provides an introduction to the Semantic Web and discusses how Drupal uses this technology. Topics addressed include the following:

  • What is the Semantic Web
  • What are its core concepts
  • Why the Semantic Web is valuable
  • How does Drupal use Semantic Web technology

A brief overview of Semantic Web modules for Drupal is also covered.
