@drupalninja, I'm glad to hear that works, that's good to know. Once again, @merlinofchaos allows for extensibility with clean API's.

There's a hook for that! Extending Drupal / Beginning Module Development

Full session description & video:

This session is aimed at newcomers to Drupal who have a fair understanding of PHP, or a background in another programming language. It will introduce the concept of hooks and detail a few of the most common ones. If you've ever wanted to write Drupal modules but just needed someone to give you a push or lay the groundwork, or if you know you'll need to program custom modules someday, or are just curious about why Drupal is a great framework for any web application, this is your session.

At the end of the presentation, you should be able to build basic, fundamental modules by implementing common hooks, as well as know where to go to get information about building more robust modules.

Intended Audience Skill Level:
Beginner
